Abstract

1,023,445. False twisting. ERNEST SCRAGG & SONS Ltd. Nov. 6, 1962, No. 41869/62. Heading D1D. In a high speed false twisting spindle assembly wherein the spindle 14 is supported by at least two rollers A, B, the roller A has a peripheral tyre 11 which is radially expansible under rotation so that the expansion enables it to support the spindle. The tyre 11 is preferably of a medium grade polyurethane while the idler roller B comprises two spaced apart discs of a hard grade polyurethane. The rollers A and B are mounted on a pivoted support plate 22 which is biased towards a driving roller C by a spring 16. Driving roller C comprises spaced apart discs of a hard grade polyurethane, its shaft being mounted in fixed bearings 17 and having a wharve in its lower end whereby it is driven by a belt 20. Spindle 14 is axially located by flanges therein engaging between the discs of rollers B, C. Reference has been directed by Comptroller to Specification 932, 206.
