Apparatus for harvesting and simultaneously conveying crops having a drum 2 provided with beater knives 3 surrounded by a housing 5 which leads into a delivery member 10 is characterized in that the side-walls are cut away rearwardly and downwardly at 11 from a point approximately at the level of the axis of rotation of the beater knives so that the knives project beyond the cut-away portion. Adjustable ground runners may be provided and supported by strips which are connected to the side walls.
