Abstract
934,879. Filters. F. HOFFMANNLA ROCHE & CO. A.G. Sept. 23, 1960 [Sept. 25, 1959], No. 32767/60. Class 46. Liquid to be filtered is withdrawn from a flask 12, along tube 60, past check valve 66 through filter 58 and into a flask 10 by application of vacuum to flask 10 along pipe 22 by valve 24. When the level of liquid in flask 10 reaches electrode 40, the latter effects reversal of valve 24 by a motor (not shown) so that the liquid is withdrawn from flask 10 along tube 50, past check valve 56, through filter 68 and back into flask 12. The process is repeated until the liquid is optically clear. Valve 24, instead of applying suction to the receiving flask, may apply gas, (e.g. air), under pressure to the flask being emptied. Figs. 2 to 6 (not shown) depict minor modifications of the tube and flask arrangements; in Figs. 4 to 6 the liquid tubes are connected to the bottoms of the flasks. Where the liquid is for medical use it may be transferred after filtration directly to an ampoule or like container through a T-connection in tube 50 or 60. 26 and 32 are gas filters.
