A tank 2 of volatile liquid is emptied by connecting a riser 1 to a cyclone separator 5 connected to a vacuum pump 8 ; liquid is drawn off by a pump 11. The outlet of the pump 8 may be connected to maintain pressure above the liquid in the tank 2 and to supply gas for the riser 1.
