Abstract

In a method of filtering liquids a central hollow element consisting wholly or partly of a compact of spherical-particled metal powder, the particle size of which has been controlled to give a pre-determined porosity, is introduced into the liquid which also contains a filter aid, and a differential pressure is applied to cause the filter aid to deposit on the outside of the porous metal. According to the Provisional Specification, the porosity may vary from 10 to 70 per cent.
