933,626. Typewriters. J. R. LANE (R. Fondiller). June 5, 1962, No. 21716/62. Class 100 (4). Alarms indicating exhaust of paper; paperfeeding, clamping and guiding.-A typewriter is provided with a page-end signal device, which comprises a resilient finger 28, whose free end 27 is deflected by the leading edge of sheets of paper P, advanced between a pressure member 15 and a paper pan 13 by rotation of a platen 11 and feed rollers 44, co-operating therewith, a ball 38 on an arm 37 integral with the finger 27 striking a bell 36, to provide an audible signal, when the trailing edge of the paper passes past a curved end 22 of the pressure member 15. In another embodiment (not shown), the finger 28 may close an electrical contact to provide an audible or visual signal. Paper and matrix carriages and supports.- The carriage base 33 is slidably mounted by ball-bearings 41 on a support 42 rigid with the typewriter base. The platen 11 may be of a conductive rubber to sense the passage of the trailing edge of the paper. Erasing or correction tables.-The pressure member 15 has a ledge 16, serving as a backing member for the paper to facilitate erasures.
