Abstract

1,264,743. Selective printing. ING. C. OLIVETTI & C. S.p.A. 13 April, 1970 [15 April, 1969 (2)], No. 17518/70. Heading B6F. An electrolytic recording apparatus comprises one or more anode-cathode pairs of electrodes 2, 2<1>, the two electrodes of each pair being close together and on the same side of the electrosensitive substrate 7. The substrate has an electrolyte which is applied by a wetting device 3 and pressure device 8. The wetting device 3 comprises a duct 4 with a slit 5 and connected by a pipe 6 to a reservoir containing the electrolyte. This is an aqueous solution of polyvinyl alcohol mixed with an aqueous solution of potassium iodide, potassium bromide and thiourea. The pressure guiding device 8 is composed of a pressure support 8<1> of insulating material and urged together with the wetting device towards the paper 7. Only the wetting device contacts the paper. As shown in Fig. 4, the paper 7 is fed past the recording head but in (Fig. 7, not shown) the head is guided across a web in letter-space direction.
