Abstract

931,497. Damped resilient couplings. L. GEISLINGER. Aug. 22, 1961 [Aug. 31, 1960], No. 30196/61. Class 80 (2). A damped resilient coupling comprises sets of leaf springs 4 mounted in a driving shaft member 7 and engaging at their inner ends recesses in a driven shaft member 8 so that chambers 10, 11 are formed on either -side of the spring- sets. Axially spaced radial ducts 17a, 18a are formed in the member 8 and communicate with a source of high-pressure liquid and with drain respectively. When the springs are unstressed the ducts 17a register with the leaf spring sets and the ducts 18a with sealing means 19 separating the chambers 10, 11 of adjacent spring sets. In operation when the springs are stressed the ducts 17a supply high pressure liquid to the chambers which are reduced in size and the other chambers are opened to drain through the ducts 18a. If universal movement of the shafts is required member 8 has a spherical surface and the member 7 a spherical cavity.
