Abstract
1369228 Resilient mountings; shaft couplings GETEFO GES FUR TECHNISCHEN FORTSCHRITT mbH 6 Oct 1971 [6 Oct 1970] 46571/71 Headings F2S and F2U A torque transmitting coupling for a steering shaft comprises an inner metal member 3 of non-circular cross-section, a rubber element 2 of non-circular cross-section and an outer metal member 1 with a cavity of non-circular crosssection, the rubber element 2 being bonded by vulcanization to the inner metal member 3, and the rubber element 2 and the outer metal member 1 having opposing end faces of which outer parts are in axially abutting relationship whilst inner parts are normally axially spaced apart and come into engagement only after relative axial displacement of the two metal members. The outer metal member 1 is stepped to provide the space. Alternatively (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown) the outer metal member is not stepped but the rubber element is formed with projections. The rubber element 2 is a force fit in and/or cold-bonded to the outer metal member 1. A cyano-acrylate adhesive is used for the cold-bonding. The inner metal member 3 has the shape of a hammer head.
