Abstract
931,107. Mixing chocolate. CARLE & MONTANARI S.p.A. Nov. 2, 1959, No. 37080/59. Class 86. A chocolate crushing machine has two coaxial horizontal mixing pans 4, 5 having a heating jacket 6 and connected by ports 30 closable by arcuate shutters 29. A central shaft 3 carries impeller blades 28 in the inner compartment 5 in which operate also two truncatedcone shaped rollers 9 journalled in a casing 20a also carried by the shaft 3. The outer compartment 4 has a stirrer 27. The shaft 3 drives through a chain 12 a rotating cover 18 from which depends into the outer compartment 4 the stirrer 27 which is thereby also given a planetary motion about the shaft 3; the rollers 9 and the stirrer 27 are also rotated on their own axes, the rollers by reaction gearing 21, 22, 23 and the stirrer by the chain drive 10, 24, 25. In operation, the chocolate mixture is first worked up in the outer compartment 4 with the shutters 29 closed; they are then opened and a circulation of the material through the two compartments as shown at X is set up by the action of the impeller 28 and rollers 9. The shutters 29 are mounted on an internally toothed ring 33 actuated by a hand wheel 35.
