[Also in Divisions B8 and E1] A drum 10 is driven from a rotor 28 through gearing comprising a shaft 34 splined at 33 to the rotor 28 and rotatably journalled in a gear ring 35 secured to the stator casing 27 and in a gear ring 36 bolted to a flange 37 of the drum 10. The gear rings 35, 36 mesh with a cylindrical externally toothed gear 38 and form a reduction gearing. Since only one gear 38 is provided a counter weight 39 is formed on the shaft 34.
