930,759. Hydrometers. G. W. G. SHRUBSALL. Feb. 10, 1961 [Nov. 18, 1959], No. 39128/59. Class 97 (3). An hydrometer comprises a float 4 mounted within a cylinder 1 into which liquid to be tested is drawn by means of an inlet tube 2 and bulb 3, a transparent sleeve 5, provided with a scale, mounted in frictional contact externally on the cylinder for rotational and vertical movement thereon and an index 6 on the float 1 which is visible through the scale and indicates thereon the specific gravity of the liquid when a datum mark 7 on the sleeve 5 is aligned with the level of liquid in cylinder 1. Alternatively a datum mark 7 on sleeve 5 is aligned with index mark 6 on float 4 and the specific gravity is indicated by the liquid level against the scale. The index mark 6 may be formed by a projection on the stem of the float 4.
