Abstract

928,999. Fuel injectors. BORG-WARNER CORPORATION. Jan. 26, 1960 [Feb. 4, 1959], No. 2845/60. Class 7(3). A nozzle tip 12 has a slotted collar 25 threading into small pitch threads 22 and engaging flats on a spring abutment 15 engaging large pitch threads 19 whereby when the tip 12 is screwed up during assembly of the nozzle, the abutment 15 is rotated thereby and advances more quickly than the tip so that the valve spring 14 is stressed to the desired value. Grooves 29 are provided in the tip 12 for engagement by a spanner and the upper end of spring 14 engages a slotted abutment 34. A filter 39 and screen 38 are provided in the fuel supply passage.
