Abstract

927,138. Discharge apparatus. DEUTSCHE AKADEMIE DER WISSENSCHAFTEN ZU BERLIN. July 12, 1960, No. 24286/60. Class 39 (1). Apparatus for the spectrophotometric analysis of liquids in an electrical discharge comprises a hollow electrode 6, 10, which is internally chemically inactive with respect to the liquid, e.g. of glass, and externally electrically conductive and a solid electrically conductive counter electrode 4, each electrode being provided at the discharge end with a detachable metal cap 7, 5 extending over at least part of the outer surface of the electrode, the hollow electrode cap 7 being apertured and the solid electrode cap 5 being closed at the discharge end, the liquid being fed through the hollow electrode. Each cap can be provided with a flange or collar at or near the end opposite to the discharge end. An atomizer 8 for the liquid is connected through a feed pipe 9 to the hollow electrode. Electrode supports 2, 3 are connected to a voltage source 1.
