933,677. Discharge apparatus. CHIRANA PRAHA, NARODNI PODNIK. March 30, 1962 [March 31, 1961], No. 12431/62. Class 39 (1). A device for the direct spectrum analysis of liquids by sparks or arcs has a rotating electrode 2, a fixed electrode 1 and a container 4 for the liquid 5 to be analysed, a rotating disc 3 between rotating electrode 2 and the container 4 which transfers the liquid from the container 4 on to the rotating electrode 2. The liquids are preferably combustible and may be oils, greases or other organic liquids. Electrodes 2 and 3 are rotated by separate electric motors of continuously-variable speed. By varying the spacing between them and their relative speed of rotation the thickness of the layer of liquid on 2 and 3 can be varied. The centre of rotation of 3 can be moved along a circle whose centre corresponds with that of 2. Rotating disc 3 is of now electrically-conductive material.
