Abstract

1376637 Electrostatic spray guns RANSBURG CORP 22 Feb 1972 [22 Feb 1971] 8090/72 Heading B2F A spray gun comprises a housing 18 enclosing a liquid supply tube 26 of dielectric material, having a liquid contacting electrode 24 and surrounded by a tube 25 which supports an electrode 31. In the presence of a conductive liquid, an electrostatic field can be established between the electrodes 24, 31. Gas is supplied along the annular passage between the tubes 25, 26 to form a spray at the outlet 23. An axially adjustable cap 27 forms an annular outlet from the tube 26. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown) the cap 27 is omitted and the liquid supply tube (52) has a reduced diameter end surrounded by the electrode (57). In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown) the end of the housing 18 has a spray-surrounding electrode (40).
