Abstract

925,950. Ejectors. HICK, HARGREAVES & CO. Ltd. Feb. 15, 1962 [Feb. 15, 1961], No. 5582/61. Class 71. Vacuum producing equipment comprises an atmospheric air-operated ejector 10, having a suction inlet 14, arranged to discharge into the suction inlet 15 of a liquid-operated jet ejector. Water or other liquid passing through nozzle 1 entrains air through suction inlet 15, the discharge from the diffuser 3 having a liquid seal in tank 5. Air being drawn through ejector 10 causes atmospheric air to enter at high speed through nozzle 8 which creates a vacuum in the chamber connected at 14. The liquid is re-circulated by lift pumps 17 and cold make-up water is supplied at inlet 18. The seal tank has an overflow 6. Two or more atmospheric air operated ejectors may be arranged in series.
