Abstract

925,667. Labelling-machines. MORGAN FAIREST Ltd. Feb. 21, 1962 [Feb. 21, 1961], No. 6261/61. Class 73. Relates to a labelling-machine for applying labels 4 to bottles 2 of relatively flat crosssection and comprising a labelling suction drum 3 and a presser drum 5 forming a nip for the passage of bottles fed on a conveyer 1. Labels 4 are rolled on to the bottles by the drum 3 and final close adhesion of the labels to the bottles is effected by presser bars 7A, 7B, each being mounted on two continuously-rotatable cranks 8 so that they move simultaneously towards and away from the conveyer 1 and also move in the same direction as the conveyer when they move towards it. One bar 7A is surfaced by a thick layer 14A of resilient material and the other bar 7B has a thinner layer of resilient material. The bars are long enough for pressure to be applied repeatedly to each bottle whilst in the range of the bars and the maximum speed of the bars in the direction of movement of the conveyer approximates to the speed of the conveyer. The label ends 4A are pressed to the end curvature of the bottle. Specifications 833,685 and 835,777 are referred to.
