Abstract

925,055. Bottle capsules. O. J. BRUUN. May 15, 1959 [Nov. 27, 1958], No. 38290/58. Class 125(3). A bottle capsule consists of a laminate of metal e.g. aluminium foil 1 and paper 2 having overlapping edges 8 adhered together to form a conical sleeve 6 around a mandrel 7 with the metal foil on the outside, the walls at the smaller end of the sleeve being folded inwardly in overlapping flaps, Fig. 4, which are pressed and heat-sealed together. The paper 2 is porous and an adhesive 3 which bonds it to the foil 1 is capable of percolating through the paper. The edges 8 may be sealed by a separate adhesive or by the adhesive 3 under heat and pressure. The exposed face of the paper may be coated with a dry adhesive, Fig. 6 (not shown) and the exposed face of the foil may have a layer of sealing lacquer. The capsules may be embossed, Fig. 8 (not shown). Specification 689,530 is referred to.
