Abstract

922,334. Releasing articles from shoots. ADMOS Inc. Aug. 14, 1961 [Aug. 22, 1960], No. 29212/61. Class 78 (1). Articles are released from shoot 10 one by one by gate 20. Gate 20 is carried resiliently by pivot 24 carried by links 26 pivoted at 30. Pivot 30 is secured to arms 32. Arms 32 are connected to pull member 39 by means of pin 48 working in slots therein, member 39 being operated by the piston of solenoid 36. In Fig. 2, the article is sliding down towards gate 20, and in Fig. 3, a moment later, the article 14 is shown having been resiliently arrested by gate 20, the article engaging the rollers 70 carried by the gate, and the gate abutting stop 62 carried by arms 32 and being locked by the interaction of pin 48 and its slots. Operation of gate 20.-Solenoid 36 is momentarily operated to pull member 39 to the left. This through the action of pin 48 moves arms 32 clockwise about pivot 30 and thereby withdraws gate 20 beneath the article 14 (from the position of Fig. 3 to that of Fig. 4), to permit the article to move downwards to the right. In this position the springiness of gate 20 causes it to engage the underneath of the article as it passes, so that when the article has passed, the arm 20 rises under its spring back to position of Fig. 2 to check the next article. This it performs because the solenoid has been operated only temporarily so that gate 20 and member 39 is free to be moved under the operation of springs 74 back into their original position as shown in Fig. 2. Thus, with each operation of solenoid 36 one article is released.
