Abstract

715,132. Endless-belt conveyers. SIMON, Ltd., H. Sept. 24, 1952 [Sept. 29, 1951], No. 22769/51. Class 78 (1) Articles such as lumps of soap 28 delivered in single line formation from a mechanical cutter on a belt conveyer 10, are turned through 90 degrees and diverted into two parallel lines on a belt conveyer 14 by engaging a diverter member 15 pivoted at 16 on a plate 17 secured to a rail 18. The member 15 affords a fulcrum for the leading end of succeeding lumps and has arms 15a, 15b, 15c which are engaged by the lumps so as to turn the member backwards and forwards about its pivot 16, a spring 22 extending from a pin 20 on the arm 15a to an anchorage 21 on the plate 17 snapping the member over its dead centre position as it moves backwards and forwards. Adjustable stop . members 23 limit the pivotal movement of the member 15. After the lumps are diverted alternatively to the left and right of the rail 18, they are fed over rollers 25 to a belt conveyer 27 leading to a cooling and stamping machine (not shown).
