[Class 94 (i)] [Also in Groups II and XXX] Mechanism for feeding containers 11 of fibreboard or similar material to a machine, such as the closing and sealing machine described in Specification 541,385, comprises a feed platform, e.g. an endless belt 12, means, e.g. a leaf spring 23, for guiding the containers towards one side of the platform where they successively engage a fixed stop 24, disengaging means, e.g. a pusher 38, operating in timed relation with the machine to move the leading container transversely of the platform from engagement with the stop 24 and into engagement with a movable feeler 36 adapted to move a second stop 26 out of the path of the container, and means, e.g. a flange 47, on the pusher 38 for separating the leading container from the following container to allow the stop 26 to be returned to its operative position. The belt 12 which is supported on freely mounted rollers 13 and driven by a shaft 14 through chain-and-sprocket gearing 17, deposits the containers on a support comprising two sets of inclined rollers 18 arranged in the track of a conveyer consisting of parallel chains 19 connected by transverse pusher bars 21, the timing of the pusher 38 being such that, as each container is deposited on the support, a pusher bar 21, moves up to carry it through the machine. The stop 26, pivoted at 27 on a bracket 28, has a short arm 29 with a forked end engaging a pin 31 depending from one arm 32 of a two-armed member 32, 33 pivoted at 34 on the bracket 28. The end of the arm 33 constitutes the feeler 36 which is urged into the path of the containers by a spring 37, movement of the feeler causing a greater movement of the stop 26 because of the shortness of the arm 29. The pusher 38 is mounted on a shaft 39 and is reciprocated by means of a pin 44 on the shaft engaging the forked end of one arm 42 of a two-armed lever 41, 42, the arm 41 carrying a cam roller 43 maintained by a spring 46 in engagement with a cam 40 on the shaft 14.
