Abstract

920,784. Adjusting pedals. PRESSED STEEL CO. Ltd. Aug. 16, 1961 [Aug. 17, 1960], No. 28483/60. Class 79(5) The clutch and brake pedals 17 and 16 and accelerator pedal 38 are mounted in a carriage 11 which is supported by tracks 20 in a ball bearing slide device comprising balls 21 retained in a cage 22 and supported by an outer track 23 attached to a housing bracket 24 so that the carriage and pedals may slide backwards and forwards. The pedals 16 and 17 are mounted, together with a spacer 18 on a spindle 14 and have cranked ends connected by rods 34 to the operating members of hydraulic cylinders 32 which operate the brake and clutch, the pressure fluid being conveyed through conduits 35, and. which are mounted upon the carriage 11. The pedal 38 is journalled in bearing 36 and is connected by a flexible cable to the throttle actuating mechanism. A nut member 28 attached to the carriage 11 is engaged by a screw 27, journalled in the housing 24, which may be rotated manually through a shalt 30 and handle 31 or may be rotated by an electric, hydraulic or pneumatic device whereby the carriage 11 is movable in or out with respect to the vehicle facia panel 26 to which the housing 24 is connected. The cylinders 32 may be enclosed within a casing 40 having a hinged access cover 43.
