Abstract

861,828. Disc brakes. KLAUE, H. Nov. 18, 1958 [July 29, 1958], No. 37095/58. Addition to 839,732. Class 103 (1). In an improvement of a disc brake claimed in the parent Specification, the non-rotatable brake discs 10, 11 are spread apart to engage the brake housing 4, rotatable with the output shaft 1 of a transmission brake arranged on the gearbox of a motor vehicle, by a brake operating ring 14, provided on its outer periphery with a toothed segment 17, which is rotated by an operating rod 19 actuated by an hydraulic actuator 21, 22 to urge brake discs into frictional engagement with the brake housing 4 through ball raceways 15 operating in inclined ramps in the brake operating ring 14 and brake disc 11. At the other side the brake operating ring 14 is mounted by a ring of balls 16 on the brake disc 10. Manual adjustment is provided at the other end of operating rod 19 by means of two lock nuts 26 operating with screwed extension 25.
