Abstract

Gasoline compositions contain up to 6 c.c. per U.S. gallon of tetraethyl lead, an ethylene dihalide scavenging agent and a boron compound of formula <FORM:0917652/III/1> obtained by reacting 3 moles of butane 1,3-diol with 2 moles of boric acid or 1 mole of boric oxide, in an amount sufficient to provide from 0,002 to 0,1% b weight of boron in the gasoline. Specifications 917,651, 917,653, 917,654 and 917,655 also are referred to.ALSO:An organic boron compound having the formula <FORM:0917652/IV (b)/1> is obtained by reacting 3 moles of butane-1,3-diol with 2 moles of boric acid, or with 1 mole of boric oxide.
