Abstract

Gasoline contains a compound of formula <FORM:0917658/III/1> obtained by reacting 2 moles of butane 1,3-diol with either 1 mole of boric acid or 1/2 mole of boric oxide, in an amount sufficient to provide from 0,001% to less than 0,002% by weight of boron in the fuel. The fuel also may contain up to 6 c.c. per U.S. gallon of tetraethyl lead and an ethylene dihalide scavenging agent.
