Abstract
A gasoline motor fuel contains from 0,1 to 2% by weight of one or more aliphatic alcohols having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and at least 0,001% by weight of a substituted oxazoline compound of the formula <FORM:0906894/III/1> wherein Rx is a hydrocarbon radical containing 7 to 19 carbon atoms and where Ry represents the radical -(CH2)nOH where n is a whole number from 1 to 3, and Rz represents Ry, hydrogen, or an alkyl radical of 1 to 3 carbon atoms. The preferred alcohols are methanol, isopropanol, and mixtures thereof. The fuel may also contain tetraethyl lead, a halide scavenging agent, and boron compounds. The additives may also be used in diesel fuel and jet fuel.
