Abstract

A gasoline, at least 50% by volume of which distils over at 100 DEG C., contains 0.001 to 0.1% by volume of a substituted glycine of formula RCON(R1)CH2COOH where R is a hydrocarbon radical having a chain of at least 10 carbon atoms and R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl radical of not more than 4 carbon atoms. Radical R may be derived from a fatty acid having 11 to 25 carbon atoms, such as oleic, stearic, lauric or coconut fatty acids. In examples gasolines contain N-oleoyl sarcosine and N-lauroyl sarcosine.
