Abstract

An anti-stalling gasoline composition contains less than 2% by volume of a mixture of a minor proportion of an N,N-dialkyl formamide and a major proportion of an aliphatic alcohol having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms per molecule. The gasoline can be aviation gasoline of ASTM end point between 250 DEG and 350 DEG F. or motor gasoline of ASTM end point between 350 DEG and 450 DEG F. Specified formamides are N,N-dimethyl-, -diethyl-, -di-n-propyl-, -di-isopropyl-and N-methyl-N-ethyl-formamides. Specified alcohols are methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, allyl and isopropyl alcohols. The volume ratio of alcohol to formamide is between 10 to 1 and 35 to 1, and they form proportions by volume of gasoline of from 0.4 to 1.8, and from 0.01 to 0.15, respectively.
