Abstract
1-n-Butylboracyclohexane of the formula <FORM:0818137/III/1> (see Group IV (b)), is admixed with conventional jet fuels, such as JP-4, in proportions of, for example, 10-20 per cent by volume.ALSO:The invention comprises 1-n-butylboracyclohexane of the formula <FORM:0818137/IV (b)/1> which may be prepared by reacting the di-Grignard compound of 1,5-dibromopentane with di-n-butylchloroborane in ether solution and distilling 1-n-butylboracyclohexane from the reaction mixture. The reaction is preferably carried out at low temperatures of the order of 0 DEG C. A detailed example is described. The product is useful as a chemical intermediate, as a welding fuel and as an additive for jet fuels (see Group III).
