Abstract
917,289. Wells. BAKER OIL TOOLS Inc March 4, 1960, No. 7797/60. Class 85. A stop collar A for well conduit B comprises a split annular member 20 having arcuately overlapping portions 25, 26 formed with axially extending portions 29, 37 engaged by an actuator 48 which is adapted to spread the portions 29, 37 apart to tighten the collar about the conduit. The actuator is fixed to the member by a strap 50 and is flattened (8ee Fig. 7) to tighten the collar. The collar has rows of opposed teeth 23, 24 adapted to grip the conduit. Tongues 30, 38 on the portions 29, 37 engage grooves in the internal face of the member to ensure that the collar is fixed normal to the axis of the conduit. In a modified collar the member is formed by two parts which hook together. A casing centralizer C (Fig. 1) has stop rings 13, 14 which engage a collar fixed to the conduit to restrict longitudinal movement.
