Abstract

916,052. Cathode-ray storage tubes. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO. Ltd. May 4, 1961 [July 28, 1960], No. 26280/60. Class 39 (1). In a cathode-ray storage tube, the storage mesh and collector electrode mesh are each supported by a metal frame, and these frames are fixed to opposite parallel faces of an interposed insulating ring. As shown, the meshes 3, 4, Fig. 2, are supported by coaxial cylindrical frames 1, 2 spaced by a glass or ceramic ring 5 to which they are sealed or brazed. The frames may be formed with tags 11, 12 for attachment by welding to other parts of the tube structure. Alternatively the meshes may be supported by annular frames 6, 7, Fig. 5, spaced by an insulating ring 8. The arrangements may be used in storage tubes of the direct-viewing type or of the type in which signals are " read " by a scanning beam.
