Abstract
911,921. Bottom seals for doors. KING Ltd., GEO. W. March 22, 1961 [Dec. 22, 1959], No. 43527/59. Class 20 (3). A bottom seal for a door comprises a compressible or resilient sealing strip 16, Fig. 2, disposed along the lower edge of a door so as in its non-compressed state to be clear of the floor 21 and a flap 17 movable about a horizontal hinge 18 by a vertically movable bolt 12b bearing on the flap 17 by a roller 20 to give the flap a depressive movement when the bolt is moved into an operative position to compress the sealing strip so that it will make sealing contact with the floor. The sealing strip may be carried directly on the door or as shown in Fig. 3, may be carried on the flap 23 hinged at 24 to be pushed against an abutment surface 31 for distortion. In this case the flap 23 is connected to the bolt 25 by a link 27 and a parallel bolt 26 operated simultaneously with the bolt 25 enters a recess in the floor to lock the door. The bolts may carry horizontal arms which when the bolt is operated in the closed position of the door, engage with cam surfaces to force the door against seals at the sides and top edges thereof as the bottom seal is being effected.
