Abstract
238,991. Atwood, J. T. June 23, 1924. Rattling and slamming of doors and windows, preventing and minimizing.-A door stop has two door-contact surfaces on one side and at one end thereof, and comprises a box-like socket open on one side and on one end, into which a. buffer member of resilient material, such as rubber, is adapted to be inserted at the open end of the socket, means for preventing lateral movement of the buffer member in the socket, and marginal portions on the buffer member to cover the edges of the socket around the open side and end. The buffer member 23 is formed with end and side door-engaging faces 24, 25 respectively and with marginal portions 29, 32 which conceal the socket when the buffer is in the assembled position. The socket may be a sheet metal member 16 which is secured by a screw 21 and has inwardly-turned side walls 18 that engage recesses 26 in the sides of the buffer member. The portions 22 at the base of the buffer member are compressed between the side walls 18, and the underside of the buffer is grooved to provide a clearance for the screw 21.
