Abstract
910,347. Pipe couplings. VIELMETTER, J. July 6, 1961 [July 6, 1960], No. 24543/61. Class 99(1). In a pipeline coupling for automatic central buffer couplings of railway vehicles comprising two coupling members 5 each having a coupling component 7 which is longitudinally displaceable against spring pressure 13 and which incorporates an air supply duct extending longitudinally therethrough and opening at the forward end of the component, there being a sealing ring surrounding the open end of the duct, the coupling component has means whereby the component may be manually displaced from the coupled condition when the air in the duct is at atmospheric pressure to facilitate replacement of the sealing ring. As shown, the coupling component 7 is rearwardly displaced by a handle 15 and through a guide 3 and is swivelled about a pin 17. In a modification the coupling component is connected to a piston within a rotatably mounted housing containing the spring.
