Abstract

956,861. Pipe couplings. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Oct. 13, 1960 [July 17, 1959], No. 24615/59. Heading F2G. [Also in Divisions E2 and G6] A grab (see Division G6) having a body portion 11 is detachably connected to its suspension cable comprising a bellows-type gas supply tube 71 by a locking ring 68 having spring fingers 70 carrying lips 69, the lips co-operating with similar lips 69 formed on a nut 13 secured to the body portion 11. The ring when in its locking. position, shown, holds looking balls 65 in depressions 67 in a suspension tube 64, the balls also extending through holes 66 in a member 12 fixed to the portion 11, the tube 64 being connected to the tube 71 by an end plug 73 and a part-conical fitting 72. To release the suspension cable the ring 68 is urged away from the nut 13 to disengage the lips 69 and permit the balls 65 to leave the depressions 67.
