Abstract
909,291. Liquefied gas lighters. SOC. FRANCO-HISPANO-AMERICAINE FRANCISPAM. March 22, 1961 [April 2, 1960], No. 10491/61. Class 75 (3). When a nozzle 8 on a liquefied gas cylinder is pushed into an inlet bore in the tank 11 of a lighter a spring closed valve 17 in the tank opens and then a spring closed valve 4 in the cylinder also opens and liquefied gas enters the tank through a notch (not shown) on the end of the nozzle 8 and through slots 16 in the casing 15 of the tank valve 17 and gas from the tank escapes through the slots 16 and through an annular space 7 between the nozzle 8 and the seat member 12 of the tank valve. The area of the annular space 7 is less than the area of the notch in the end of the nozzle. The cylinder valve 4 is provided with a stem 4a which projects into the bore of the nozzle 8 and co-operates with a stem 17a on the tank valve 17 to open both valves. In a modification, Fig. 8 (not shown) a rubber gasket secured in the tank valve casing forms the seating for the tank valve. The nozzle of the supply cylinder is inserted with slight friction in an axial bore of the rubber gasket and a longitudinal groove in the outer surface of the nozzle forms an escape duct for the gas from the tank.
