To facilitate close-setting of roof beams to a mineral face without the arm structure supporting an overcutting drum or bar fouling the face the drum or bar 5 is rotatably mounted in one end of an arm 17 rotatably supported in a laterally projecting head member 15 secured to one end of a second arm 9 pivotally mounted at the other end to the arms 11 of a U-shape bracket 10 secured to the top of the chassis 1 of the mineral-mining machine. The arm 17 is rotated by worm-gearing relative to the head member in a plane parallel to that in which the arm 9 is rotated by a jack 9.
