In a mineral-mining machine having at the leading end a cutter head formed by pickcarrying, rotating arms 2 and a pick-armed, endless chain 3 there is provided a roofcutting endless cutter chain-carrying jib 9 rotatably mounted about a horizontal axis 10 in a vertically swingable arm 11 pivotally mounted at 12 on the side of the machine remote from the face. The jib 9 is maintained horizontal as the arm 11 is swung by a jack 14 and the parallelogram linkage 11, 12.
