Damage caused by the rotary cutters 9 of a tobacco-cutting machine fouling the upper part of the mouthpiece 8 is minimized by providing shearing pins 27 to attach a separate bar 26 at the top of the mouthpiece. The bar 26 and the heads of the pins or screws 27 are prevented from falling into the tobacco by attaching them by chains or wires to the mouthpiece.
