Abstract

907,947. Venetian blinds. ELECTROMATIC SHOPBLINDS Ltd. May 10, 1961 [May 17,1960], No. 17382/60. Class 20 (3). The raising and lowering mechanism of a Venetian blind comprises two or more flexible strips 8, 9, e.g. thin steel tapes secured at one end to e.g. the lowest lath in spaced relationship and anchored at their other ends to a single roller 7 so that the strips are wound on the roller in interleaved relationship. The roller 7 may be driven by hand or be power operated through worm gearing on a shaft 15. Tilting of the laths is effected by a shaft 19 operated through gearing 25 on a vertical shaft turned by a control lever. Each of the connections between the gears and the respective vertical shafts at each end thereof has a universal joint having a pin and slot connection (not shown) permitting variation in length of the shaft due to ambient temperature changes. Specification 883,186 is referred to.
