645,306. Roller blinds. COOPE, J. T. L., and COOPE, J. W. May 10, 1948, No. 12783. [Class 20(iii)] Sun blinds or awnings held by blind arms when extended are fixed to their rollers in situ by positive means passing through the blind, the roller periphery having a groove or overlapping part or parts which can be moved into register with the entrance to the blind box or cavity to receive the inner edge of the blind. A wood &c. stiffening lath 5 may be accommodated in a pocket 4 at the inner edge and laid in the roller groove 2, screws 6 being driven into the roller. Or a strip may be placed over the blind edge laid in the groove. A roller may be formed of sheet metal the longitudinal edges of which overlap to form a slot into which the blind edge is slipped and secured by screws. A plain roller may have a long strip or a number of spring or other clips secured to it to form overlapping parts under which the blind is fitted. Or the roller may have eyes 14 located or not in a groove 2 and passing through slits in the blind which is secured in place by pins 15 threaded through the eyes and preferably bearing upon plates 16.
