905,755. Sewing-machines. UNION SPECIAL MASCHINENFABRIK. Aug. 19, 1960 [Aug. 22, 1959], No. 28733/60. Class 112. [Also in Group XXXIV] Stands; grouped machines; closing sacks.- In a sewing device for closing bags or sacks, particularly in a device for automatic sackfilling installations, two complete sewing- machines, each including a driving motor, are suspended from a common column of adjustable height, and are mounted to swing about the axis of the column, so that when one machine breaks down it can be swung to the rear for repair, the other machine being brought into the working position. The column comprises an inner tube and an outer tube extended telescopically by a screwed rod which may be rotated by hand or by an electric motor 47. A corrugated bearing (see Group XXXIV) is positioned between the tubes, and a bellows 16 provided. The two sewing-machines 7, 8, with their supporting-plates 44, are adjustably secured to a supporting-frame 6 rotatably mounted on the column. A conveyer may be provided to transport the sacks to and from the sewing position. Thread spool holders.-Also mounted on the frame is a closed frame 9 which serves as a thread support and is provided with pins 11 for locating yarn cops 12 and with thread-guiding eyelets 13. Holders 14 carrying binding tape 15 are also provided. The frame is rotatable on the column between two stops positioned 180 degrees apart. Driving.-An electric circuit for the device is described which includes the feature that the switching on of the up and down movement of the column is prevented while one or both of the sewing-machines is switched on.
