Abstract

903,641. Two-part couplings. AMP. Inc. Oct. 12, 1959 [Nov. 5, 1958 (2); June 4, 1959], No. 34527/59. Class 38 (1). A two-part electrical connector includes a pin 1 and a socket comprising a seamless cylindrical receptacle 12 along which is a helical slot terminating short of an enlarged mouth 15, the diameter of the pin 1 being greater than the internal diameter of the receptacle 12. The pin 1 and socket have wire-receiving barrels each for crimping to a wire and are surrounded by insulating sleeves 6, 18, the sleeve 6 fitting within the sleeve 18 when the pin is inserted in the socket and having an external projection 10 which engages an internal recess 20 in the sleeve 18 and further having an external packing ring 9 which seals with the sleeve 18 when the parts are telescoped. External shoulders 7, 19 are provided on the sleeves 6, 18 for engagement by a tool for joining and separating the parts and each insulating sleeve has on its end a metal sleeve 11 for crimping to the insulation of its respective wire.
