Abstract
900,036. Casting composite articles. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 3, 1958 [Dec. 13, 1957], No. 38878/57. Class 83 (1). [Also in Group XL (a)] An electrode for a high pressure electric discharge lamp is made by arc-melting sintered refractory metal, e.g. tungsten, in an annular mould 1 so as to fuse it to a stem 3 of refractory metal, and then machining, e.g. to the shape shown in Fig. 2. The mould is liquid-cooled and the melting chamber 7 is evacuated and filled with an inert gas such as argon.
