The lifting carriage of a masked lift truck is provided with a pair of horizontally operating grab arms 4, each of which is provided with a load-engaging pad 6 which is rotated relative to the associated arm, about a horizontal axis normal to the longitudinal axis of the truck, by a vane 8 having faces A, B located in working chambers 12, 16 which are fed with pressure fluid through pipes 9, 13. The arms and pads are provided with limit switches to control the degree of rotation.
