730,561. Hydraulic machines. BRITISH MESSIER, Ltd. Sept. 24, 1952 [Sept. 28, 1951], No. 22758/51. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group XXXIII] The control surfaces of a guided missile are actuated by hydraulic jacks in which backlash is stated to be eliminated. As shown, the shafts 14 carry control surfaces and are actuated, through the yoke 16, by the piston rods 20, 21. The smaller piston associated with 20 is in constant communication with the source of hydraulic pressure so that constant pressure is exerted on one arm of the yoke, which pressure is normally balanced by the thrust of the larger piston associated with 21. Hydraulic pressure is developed by pump 23 and applied through control valves 24 by electromagnetic controls 125. By-pass valve 31 and accumulator 13 are provided.
