[Also in Divisions B7 and G3] A hydraulic jack comprises a plunger 2 movable in a cylinder 1 by pressure admitted at 7 and containing a second plunger 3 movable relatively to the plunger 2 by pressure admitted at 9. In a hydraulically actuated ship's steering gear (see Division B7) two such jacks are employed of which only the plungers 3 are normally operative, the connections 7 being unpressurized, and a duplicate pressure supply system associated with the connections 7 may be brought into operation should the normal system fail.
