Abstract

970,763. Fluid-pressure apparatus. H. KNAPP. Oct. 26, 1962 [Oct. 27, 1961], No. 40644/62. Heading F1P. A double-acting hydraulic or pneumatic piston-and-cylinder arrangement comprises two connections 24, 25 situated on the same side of the piston 21 for supplying pressure medium to the cylinder chambers 30, 31, one on each side of the piston. The cylinder is located by sleeves 3, 8 in a tubular casing 1, the space 29 between the cylinder and casing serving, with ports 16, as a passageway between the cylinder chamber 31 and a space 15 and passage 14 leading to the connection 24, the other connection 25 being joined by a passage 11 to the cylinder chamber 30. The cylinder 7 may have an angular exterior, for example, a square, the corners bearing against the inner surface of the casing. The sleeve 3 surrounds a supporting ring 5 for a sealing ring 4 and abuts a guide sleeve 2 for the rod 17 of the piston. The rod carries a pin 18 on which are abutment discs 19, 32 and sealing rings 20 enclosing the piston 21. The connections 24, 25 comprise pipes having flanges 26 pressed against the sleeve 8 by a plate 23 and a nut 27.
