Abstract

1,257,467. Hydraulic intensifiers. HORDERN MASON & EDWARDS Ltd. Jan.21, 1969 [Feb.22, 1968], No.8601/68. Heading F1P. Fluid-pressure is transmitted to a clutch (of a press tool) that in use rotates, by a piston 28 and column of fluid 24, the pressure on piston 28 being transmitted mechanically via a plate 30 all the forgoing rotating with the clutch. Pressure on plate 30 is exerted by a similar stationary plate 19 through bearings 36 and as shown is produced by fluid from a pressure source 14 on piston 17. Alternatively mechanical or electromechanical means may provide the pressure. To allow fluid topping up if fluid 24 a bore 51 communicates with a similar bore 50 and they are provided with none-return valves 59 so that no communication exists when pressure is applied at 14.
